My name is Brett Lauritzen, an independent CFII. I earned all of my ratings and graduated from ATP Flight School in Manassas, Virginia, and I bring that same disciplined, checkride-focused training approach to every student here in the Shenandoah Valley.
Every lesson is planned around your checkride, not a generic syllabus. We fly the maneuvers the way the Designated Pilot Examiner will actually ask for them, and we debrief the way an examiner will actually grade them.
Ground and flight instruction are scheduled around your calendar, not a flight school's block schedule — which means fewer gaps between lessons and steadier skill retention as you build toward your checkride.
As an independent instructor, I'm not tied to a single ramp or aircraft. Beyond the Cessna 172 based here at KLUA, I also have piloting experience in the Piper Archer and Diamond DA20, and I can accommodate training out of a nearby airport or in a student-provided airplane as well.
My own goal is to eventually fly for the airlines, following in my dad's footsteps — so I know firsthand what it takes to go from first lesson to career pilot, and I love helping students build that same foundation. Outside the cockpit, you'll usually find me golfing, at the gym, riding motorcycles, or tinkering with cars.
